The Raleigh Money Expo
The Raleigh Coin Club just completed their annual show known as the Raleigh Money Expo. By all accounts it was a huge success. Like all club shows, there are multiple constituencies when you put on a show: the club, the public, the dealers. And in this case, each constituency got value and a win.
For the club, the bourse was a sellout and the show made money. Early reports say a record amount. For The Public, over 1650 folks came through the front door. 80-90 kids enjoyed the Kids Zone. Others enjoyed the exhibits and the educational seminars. The dealers were effusive in their praise of the show. There were a record number of early birds as well as two big national level dealers so there was a lot of money being spent on the floor.
The commitment from club members was tremendous. There were numerous people at the facility working on pre-show activities and supporting the show through the weekend. The YN’s help during dealer move in was much appreciated. Dealer check in went well despite having a record number of dealers.
Are there omens here for the NCNA and the upcoming convention? Yes!! Coin shows are back, bigger, and better. The public showed up in higher numbers than in 2019. Dealers flew in from Texas, California, and Oregon to walk the floor. Dealers made money. Kids were a strong component of the show. There is no magic in putting on a show and so this bodes extremely well for the NCNA. This year should be blockbuster.
On a final and personal note, this was Paul Landsberg’s last year as the bourse chair for the Raleigh Money Expo. Jeff McCauslin has volunteered to take over the role. Over 30 dealers have already committed to next year’s show. If you would like to reserve a table, please contact Jeff at bourse-chair@raleighcoinclub.org.
